A Vibe Kanban alternative after the shutdown

Vibe Kanban is an open-source (Apache-2.0) kanban board that runs coding agents in parallel git worktrees, with a CLI and a web UI. Bloop, the company behind it, shut down on 10 April 2026; the project is now community-maintained and its cloud and team features were removed. If open source matters most, Vibe Kanban is still usable; if you want a maintained app with a team kanban, AgentVera is one option.

Moving from Vibe Kanban to AgentVera

  1. Download AgentVera and open the repository you used with Vibe Kanban as a project.
  2. Add the agents you ran from the board; AgentVera uses the same installed CLIs and their logins.
  3. Recreate open cards on the AgentVera team kanban (sign in with an AgentVera account and link the project to a team board), or turn repeatable work into flows.
  4. Task worktrees left by Vibe Kanban are ordinary git worktrees: open them from the Git panel, or merge and remove them first.

Questions

Is Vibe Kanban shut down?

Bloop, the company behind Vibe Kanban, announced its shutdown on 10 April 2026. The code stays open source under Apache-2.0 and is maintained by the community; the cloud and team features were removed.

What is a good Vibe Kanban alternative?

If you want to stay open source, Claude Squad (terminal, AGPL-3.0) and Nimbalyst (desktop, MIT) are options. If you want a maintained desktop app with a team kanban that hands cards to agents, AgentVera does that on macOS, Windows and Linux.

Can AgentVera assign kanban cards to agents?

Yes. On the team kanban you assign a card to Claude or Codex; the agent works on it in your project and posts the result as a comment on the card. The team kanban is on the Pro and Team plans.

Does AgentVera run agents in parallel worktrees like Vibe Kanban?

Yes. Create a worktree per task from the Git panel and start an agent in it. Night-shift tasks get their own worktree automatically, and AgentVera warns you when two agents edit the same file.
