A Claude Squad alternative with a desktop GUI

Claude Squad is an open-source (AGPL-3.0) terminal app written in Go that runs several agents in tmux sessions, each in its own git worktree, with an auto-accept mode. It suits people who live in the terminal. AgentVera keeps real terminals but puts them in a desktop app with panes, a Git panel, kanban and flows.

When to pick Claude Squad

  • You want to stay in the terminal, including over SSH, with keyboard-only control.
  • You want a small open-source tool you can read and change (AGPL-3.0).
  • You already use tmux and like managing sessions with it.

When to pick AgentVera

  • You want a GUI: split panes, agents you drag between them, a Git panel with diffs and history.
  • You want agents to hand work to each other (flows, research→plan→build, night shift) and acceptance checks after each turn.
  • You want a database manager, SSH/SFTP, an MCP manager and a team kanban in the same window.
  • You want token savings built in: context profiles, automatic /compact and bundled RTK output compression.

Moving from Claude Squad to AgentVera

  1. Download AgentVera and open the repository as a project.
  2. Add the same agents; AgentVera starts the CLIs you already installed, with their logins.
  3. Worktrees made by Claude Squad are ordinary git worktrees: open them from the Git panel, or finish and merge them first.
  4. If you relied on auto-accept, look at Auto approval: it approves safe reads, tests, lint and read-only git for Claude Code, and keeps a never-approve list for commands like git push.

Yes. Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Aider, opencode and Amp are all supported, along with 12 more CLIs and plain terminals.

Is AgentVera open source like Claude Squad?

No. AgentVera is a closed-source desktop app with a free plan. Claude Squad is open source under AGPL-3.0.

Do I need tmux for AgentVera?
