A Cloudroom alternative for local agents and teams
Cloudroom is an open-source (Apache-2.0) desktop app for coding agents: start them on your Mac, or give each one its own sandbox in the cloud, where it keeps working after you close your laptop. Teleport moves a running thread between your Mac and the cloud, and you can self-host the Rust core on your own Linux server. Local agents are free; paid plans include more Cloud Credits for the cloud machines. AgentVera runs agent CLIs side by side on your own computer, and adds flows, acceptance checks and team tools. Below is how they differ and where Cloudroom is the better fit.
Cloudroom and AgentVera side by side
| Feature | Cloudroom | AgentVera |
|---|---|---|
| Platforms | Apple Silicon Macs (macOS 13 or later), Linux x64 and Windows 11; the core can be self-hosted on Ubuntu 24.04. | macOS, Windows and Linux desktop app. |
| Supported agents | Local: Claude Code, Codex, Pi and any ACP agent (such as Cursor, OpenCode, Grok, Hermes, Devin and Droid). Cloud: Claude Code, Codex, Pi, Cursor, OpenCode, fx, Hermes, Devin, Droid and OpenClaw. | 18 CLI coding agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot, Cursor Agent, opencode, Amp and Aider, plus plain terminals. Each uses its own CLI install and login. |
| Open source / license | Open source, Apache-2.0 (app and core). | Closed source. |
| Pricing model | Free with 3,000 Cloud Credits every 30 days and unlimited local agents; Pro $50, Super $150 and Ultra $500 a month with more credits. Agents use your own subscriptions. | Free plan with unlimited agents; Pro and Team plans are paid. |
| Git worktrees | Local threads run with worktrees, a terminal and diffs; each cloud thread gets its own sandbox and git branch. | Yes. Create a worktree per task from the Git panel and start an agent in it; night-shift tasks get their own worktree. You are warned when two agents edit the same file. |
| Kanban | not confirmed | Team kanban shared across your organization; hand a card to Claude, Codex or another agent and the reply lands on the card (Pro and Team). |
| Flows and pipelines between agents | not confirmed | Flows pass one agent’s output to the next; a team view of open agents led by a manager; a parallel team that ends in one PR; staged task line; night shift (Pro and Team). |
| Acceptance checks | not confirmed | Verify extracts acceptance criteria from your request and a separate read-only verifier checks each one after the agent’s turn; automatic code review. |
| Database manager / SSH | not confirmed | Database manager for PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB and SQLite (Pro and Team); SSH/SFTP panel; agent SSH and database access with your rules. |
| Token savings | not confirmed | Context profiles, automatic /compact, bundled RTK output compression, automatic per-task model routing and a project map (code graph) for agents. |
| Team features | not confirmed | Organizations, team kanban, client boards, AgentVera Runner on your own server, automatic account switching. |
A dash means we could not confirm the feature on Cloudroom’s own pages. It may exist or arrive later; check their site.
When to pick Cloudroom
- You want each agent in its own isolated cloud sandbox, still working after you close your laptop.
- You want to move a running thread between your Mac and the cloud with the same chat, model and effort (Teleport).
- You want GPU machines on demand for agent work, or to self-host the open-source core on your own Linux server.
- You want an open-source (Apache-2.0) app that uses your Claude and ChatGPT logins with no token markup.
When to pick AgentVera
- You want agents on your own computer, with 18 CLIs (from Gemini CLI and Copilot to Amp and Aider) next to plain terminals, and no cloud credits to track.
- You want agents to hand work to each other: flows, a team view led by a manager, a parallel team that ends in one PR, night shift.
- You want acceptance checks (Verify) after each turn, automatic code review and a warning when two agents edit the same file.
- You want a team kanban, automatic account switching at a limit, a database manager and an SSH/SFTP panel in the same app.
Moving from Cloudroom to AgentVera
- Download AgentVera and open the repository you use in Cloudroom as a project.
- Add Claude Code, Codex, Cursor Agent or opencode. AgentVera starts the CLIs you already installed, so your logins and subscriptions carry over.
- Branches from cloud threads are ordinary git branches: pull them and open a worktree from the Git panel.
- AgentVera does not host cloud machines. For agents that keep running while your laptop is closed, install AgentVera Runner on your own server.
