A Canopy alternative with more agents and team tools
Canopy, from IT SOL, is a free, local-first desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux that runs Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and OpenCode across git worktrees. Each worktree gets its own agent session, terminal tabs, a browser tab and diff review, and an Inspector shows live token use and spend per session. Its code is public under Canopy’s own source-available license. AgentVera also runs agent CLIs in real terminals, and adds more agents, flows, acceptance checks and team tools. Below is how they differ and where Canopy is the better fit.
Canopy and AgentVera side by side
| Feature | Canopy | AgentVera |
|---|---|---|
| Platforms | macOS (the site links an Apple Silicon build; the README also lists Intel), Windows (signed installer) and Linux (AppImage or DEB). | macOS, Windows and Linux desktop app. |
| Supported agents | Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and OpenCode; the quick launcher also starts LazyGit or your own scripts. | 18 CLI coding agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot, Cursor Agent, opencode, Amp and Aider, plus plain terminals. Each uses its own CLI install and login. |
| Open source / license | Source-available under the Canopy Source-Available License v1.0: free for any purpose, commercial or personal, but not an OSI open-source license. | Closed source. |
| Pricing model | Free, with no account. | Free plan with unlimited agents; Pro and Team plans are paid. |
| Git worktrees | Yes. A sidebar lists the worktrees; creating one can run setup commands, and each worktree gets its own agent session, terminal tabs, browser tab and diff review. | Yes. Create a worktree per task from the Git panel and start an agent in it; night-shift tasks get their own worktree. You are warned when two agents edit the same file. |
| Kanban | Task tracker links to Jira, YouTrack and GitHub: pick a task, create a branch, and the task context goes to Claude Code. | Team kanban shared across your organization; hand a card to Claude, Codex or another agent and the reply lands on the card (Pro and Team). |
| Flows and pipelines between agents | not confirmed | Flows pass one agent’s output to the next; a team view of open agents led by a manager; a parallel team that ends in one PR; staged task line; night shift (Pro and Team). |
| Acceptance checks | Comments on diff lines go to the running Claude Code or Gemini CLI session with the file, line and surrounding code; the pull request sidebar shows CI status. | Verify extracts acceptance criteria from your request and a separate read-only verifier checks each one after the agent’s turn; automatic code review. |
| Database manager / SSH | not confirmed | Database manager for PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB and SQLite (Pro and Team); SSH/SFTP panel; agent SSH and database access with your rules. |
| Token savings | Inspector shows live tokens, cache reads, total spend and context window use per session, with separate cost history per worktree. | Context profiles, automatic /compact, bundled RTK output compression, automatic per-task model routing and a project map (code graph) for agents. |
| Team features | not confirmed | Organizations, team kanban, client boards, AgentVera Runner on your own server, automatic account switching. |
A dash means we could not confirm the feature on Canopy’s own pages. It may exist or arrive later; check their site.

Moving from Canopy to AgentVera
- Download AgentVera and open the repository you use in Canopy as a project.
- Add Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or opencode. AgentVera starts the CLIs you already installed, so your logins and subscriptions carry over.
- Worktrees created in Canopy are ordinary git worktrees: open them from the Git panel, or merge and remove them first.
- Review changes in the Git panel or turn on automatic code review, then commit and open a pull request from the GitHub card.
