Token budgets: put a cap on what your agents spend

You don’t want to find out after the fact how many tokens an agent burned on a long task or overnight. Token budgets set caps per agent, per turn and per day: you’re told when an agent gets close, and at the cap it stops without losing its work.

Three caps

Token budgets live in Settings → Orkestrasyon → “Token bütçesi” and are off by default.

  • Per agent: the agent’s whole conversation. Each agent can also get its own cap in the agent dialog; 0 means unlimited.
  • Per turn: one request and the work it starts.
  • Per day: all agents together.
  • Type values like “2M”, “500k” or “1,5 milyon”.

How it counts

Spend is counted as input-equivalent tokens, read from the CLI’s own conversation transcripts. Cache reads count at 0.1× and cache writes at 1.25×, so long cached conversations aren’t over-counted. It works for Claude Code and Codex agents.

Warnings and stops

A budget warns you first and stops the agent second.

  • A notification arrives at 80% of a cap; the warning share is configurable. It goes to the desktop and to Telegram if you’ve set it up.
  • At the cap the agent stops but its conversation stays, so it carries on once you raise the cap.
  • The daily cap only stops agents that are working.

A chip in the agent header

A chip in the agent header shows the spend so far and the average per turn. The average is an estimate of what the next request will cost.

How to set it up

  1. 1

Turn on “Token bütçesi” in Settings → Orkestrasyon.

  2. 2

    Enter the per-agent, per-turn and per-day caps, such as 2M or 500k.

  3. 3

If needed, give a single agent its own cap in the agent dialog.

  4. 4

Watch spend on the chip in the agent header.

Questions

Does an agent lose its work when it hits the cap?

No. It stops but keeps its conversation, and continues where it left off once you raise the cap.

How are cached tokens counted?

Cache reads at 0.1× and cache writes at 1.25×. Everything is counted as input-equivalent tokens from the CLI’s own transcripts.

Which agents does it work with?

Claude Code and Codex agents.

Does the daily cap stop idle agents too?

No. It only stops agents that are working at that moment.

When does the warning arrive?

At 80% of a cap by default; you can change the share in settings.
