Is Conductor on Windows? The Windows alternatives

Conductor is macOS only. Options that work on Windows for parallel Claude Code and Codex agents: AgentVera, Nimbalyst, the Claude app and Claude Squad in WSL.

Solviera Teknoloji 4 min read

Conductor is one of the best-known ways to run parallel Claude Code and Codex agents on a Mac: it opens a separate worktree for each agent, shows them all in one window, and turns finished work into a PR. Look for the same thing on Windows and you hit a waitlist.

This post compares the options that work on Windows today, with what they do and don’t do. We build AgentVera, one of those options, and we hold it to the same yardstick as the others in the table.

Is Conductor available on Windows?

No. Conductor’s install docs support macOS only and point to a waitlist for Windows and Linux. As of November 2026 no release date has been announced.

Since Conductor is a macOS app, WSL can’t run it either: WSL runs Linux inside Windows, not macOS.

Getting what you expect from Conductor on Windows

Four things make Conductor worth using. Here’s how each one maps to Windows.

A separate worktree per agent

Conductor opens a separate copy of the repo for each new agent. In AgentVera you do this from the Git panel: create a worktree and start an agent directly in it. Nimbalyst and the Claude desktop app can also open sessions in worktrees.

When you use worktrees on Windows, turn on git config --global core.longpaths true and put the repo under a short path such as C:\src; otherwise deep node_modules folders can hit the 260-character limit.

Every agent at a glance

Conductor lists agents side by side. AgentVera goes a step further and keeps agents open at once in a grid from 1×1 to 5×4; each pane shows its status (working, waiting for approval, done) and live context size.

Diffs and review

In Conductor you review an agent’s changes as a diff and open a PR. In AgentVera, when an agent finishes its turn, a second model reviews the code it wrote; findings come with file:line links and go back to the agent in one click. Commits, branches and PRs live in the Git panel.

More than one provider

Conductor supports Claude Code and Codex. If you also use Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, Cursor CLI or Qwen Code on Windows, keeping them in one window takes a multi-agent tool. AgentVera opens 18 agents in the same grid; Nimbalyst is limited to Claude Code and Codex, and the Claude desktop app only runs Claude.

Which one should you pick?

  • Several providers on Windows: AgentVera. Claude, Codex, Gemini and others in one grid; when a limit runs out, account switching (Pro) moves the agent to the next account.
  • Only Claude Code and Codex, in a free, permissively licensed tool: Nimbalyst.
  • Only Claude: Anthropic’s Claude desktop app may be enough.
  • Terminal-first and already living in WSL: Claude Squad inside WSL.

If your team mixes Mac and Windows, picking one tool that works the same on all three platforms is easier than teaching two separate setups.

Trying AgentVera on Windows

  1. Get the Windows x64 installer from the download page and run it. The installer isn’t signed with a Microsoft certificate yet; in the SmartScreen warning, click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
  2. Install the agents you use. The commands are in installing coding agents on Windows, and AgentVera also shows a Windows install hint next to each agent.
  3. Open a project, create worktrees and place the agents in the grid.

The limits, plainly: there’s only an x64 installer for now (it runs under emulation on Windows on ARM), and it doesn’t manage agents installed inside WSL directly; you can open them in a Terminal agent with a command such as wsl claude.

For the bigger picture, see the guide to managing coding agents on Windows; for a detailed comparison on the Mac side, the Conductor alternative page; and for everything Windows-specific, the Windows page.

Questions

Does Conductor work on Windows?

No. Conductor’s install docs support macOS only and point to a waitlist for Windows and Linux. As of November 2026 no date has been announced.

Can I run Conductor in WSL or a virtual machine?

Conductor is a macOS app; WSL runs Linux, not macOS. The closest you can get to Conductor on Windows is an agent manager built for Windows.

Which app is closest to Conductor on Windows?

AgentVera if you want agents from several providers side by side in worktrees; Nimbalyst if Claude Code and Codex are enough; Anthropic’s Claude desktop app if you only use Claude.

Can I use Conductor on my Mac and another tool on Windows?

You can, but you’ll learn two separate setups. AgentVera works the same on macOS, Windows and Linux, so everyone on the team can use the same tool.
