Swarmterm is a free, open-source (GPL-3.0) desktop app, built with Rust and Tauri, that puts a swarm of coding agents in split terminal panes. Each agent can get its own git worktree on a swarm/* branch, a preview column shows what the agents build, and in the War Room agents message each other while you moderate. It runs on Windows and macOS; Linux packages are listed as coming soon. AgentVera also runs agent CLIs in real terminals, on macOS, Windows and Linux, with more agents, flows, acceptance checks and team tools. Below is how they differ and where Swarmterm is the better fit.

| Feature | Swarmterm | AgentVera |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Platforms | Windows 10 and 11 (x64) and macOS 10.15 or later (universal build); Linux packages are listed as coming soon, and it can be built from source. | macOS, Windows and Linux desktop app. |
| Supported agents | One-click templates for Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode; every pane is a real terminal, so other CLIs run in a shell. | 18 CLI coding agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot, Cursor Agent, opencode, Amp and Aider, plus plain terminals. Each uses its own CLI install and login. |
| Open source / license | Open source, GPL-3.0. | Closed source. |
| Pricing model | Free; no paid plan is listed and no account is needed. | Free plan with unlimited agents; Pro and Team plans are paid. |
| Git worktrees | Yes. One switch puts every agent pane in its own git worktree on a swarm/* branch; a Git tab shows each agent’s changed files and diffs, and you merge the branches you want. | Yes. Create a worktree per task from the Git panel and start an agent in it; night-shift tasks get their own worktree. You are warned when two agents edit the same file. |
| Kanban | Not confirmed on their own pages | Team kanban shared across your organization; hand a card to Claude, Codex or another agent and the reply lands on the card (Pro and Team). |
| Flows and pipelines between agents | War Room: agents message each other to flag bugs or hand off prompts while you moderate; through the built-in MCP server an agent can start another agent in its own worktree. Broadcast sends your typing to every pane. | Flows pass one agent’s output to the next; a team view of open agents led by a manager; a parallel team that ends in one PR; staged task line; night shift (Pro and Team). |
| Acceptance checks | Not confirmed on their own pages | Verify extracts acceptance criteria from your request and a separate read-only verifier checks each one after the agent’s turn; automatic code review. |
| Database manager / SSH | Not confirmed on their own pages | Database manager for PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB and SQLite (Pro and Team); SSH/SFTP panel; agent SSH and database access with your rules. |
| Token savings | Claude Code panes show context usage in a status line. | Context profiles, automatic /compact, bundled RTK output compression, automatic per-task model routing and a project map (code graph) for agents. |
| Team features | Not confirmed on their own pages | Organizations, team kanban, client boards, AgentVera Runner on your own server, automatic account switching. |

**When to pick Swarmterm:**

- You want a free, open-source (GPL-3.0) app with a small native footprint built on Rust and Tauri.
- You want agents to talk to each other directly in a War Room, or to steer every pane at once with broadcast input.
- You want a live preview column next to the terminals while agents build a web app.
- Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode cover the agents you use, and you work on Windows or macOS.

**When to pick AgentVera:**

- You or your team use Linux, or a mix of systems; AgentVera ships builds for macOS, Windows and Linux.
- You want more agents (18 CLIs, from Gemini CLI and Copilot to Amp and Aider) next to plain terminals.
- You want acceptance checks (Verify) after each turn, automatic code review and a warning when two agents edit the same file.
- You want a team kanban, automatic account switching at a limit, a database manager and an SSH/SFTP panel in the same app.

**Moving from Swarmterm to AgentVera:**

1. Download AgentVera and open the folder you use in Swarmterm as a project.
2. Add Claude Code, Codex or opencode. AgentVera starts the CLIs you already installed, so your logins and subscriptions carry over.
3. Worktrees on swarm/* branches are ordinary git worktrees: open them from the Git panel, or merge and remove them first.
4. Recreate War Room handoffs as flows, or use the team view so a manager agent splits the work.

- **Is Swarmterm free?** Yes. Swarmterm is free and open source under GPL-3.0, with no paid tier and no account. AgentVera has a free plan with unlimited agents; Pro and Team are paid.
- **Does Swarmterm run on Linux?** Not as a packaged app yet: its download page lists Linux as coming soon, and you can build it from source. AgentVera ships Linux builds alongside macOS and Windows.
- **Can agents in Swarmterm work together?** Yes. In the War Room agents message each other while you moderate, and its MCP server lets an agent start another agent in a worktree. AgentVera has flows, a team view led by a manager and a parallel team that ends in one PR.
- **Is AgentVera open source like Swarmterm?** No. AgentVera is a closed-source desktop app with a free plan. Swarmterm is open source under GPL-3.0.
- **Can I use Swarmterm and AgentVera on the same repository?** Yes. Both work on plain git branches and worktrees, so you can try AgentVera without changing your Swarmterm setup.
