agmux, by Neel Satyavolu, is a free Mac app for running AI coding agents side by side: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini, Grok, OpenCode, Kimi, Pi, Cline, Droid, Muse and local MLX models, each session as a chat or in the agent’s own terminal. Task mode gives every task its own branch and git worktree, agents share one memory per project, and Claude, Codex and Grok sessions can ask each other for a second opinion. The agmux Remote iPhone app or a phone browser lets you answer agents and approve requests, and agmux Teams adds shared usage dashboards. It runs on macOS 13 or later; version 4.3.4 came out on 23 October 2026, and its source is on GitHub under MIT with the Commons Clause. AgentVera runs agent CLIs in real terminals side by side on macOS, Windows and Linux, and adds flows, acceptance checks and team tools. Below is how they differ and where agmux is the better fit.

| Feature | agmux | AgentVera |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Platforms | macOS 13 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs; some agents and local models need Apple Silicon. The agmux Remote iPhone app or any phone browser pairs with the Mac. | macOS, Windows and Linux desktop app. |
| Supported agents | Its README names Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Droid, Kimi, Pi, OpenCode, Grok, Cline, Gemini, Muse and local MLX models; depending on the agent, a session runs as a chat, in the agent’s own terminal, or either. | 18 CLI coding agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot, Cursor Agent, opencode, Amp and Aider, plus plain terminals. Each uses its own CLI install and login. |
| Open source / license | Source-available: its license file has been MIT with the Commons Clause since 10 October 2026, so the app may not be sold; earlier versions stay plain MIT. Its website calls it open source under MIT. | Closed source. |
| Pricing model | The app is free. agmux Teams is free for up to three members; the Teams plan costs $12 per member a month or $120 a year, with the first three members free. | Free plan with unlimited agents; Pro and Team plans are paid. |
| Git worktrees | Yes. Task mode creates a branch and git worktree for every task; you can put several agents on one task and commit, push or open a pull request in the app. | Yes. Create a worktree per task from the Git panel and start an agent in it; night-shift tasks get their own worktree. You are warned when two agents edit the same file. |
| Kanban | Not confirmed on their own pages | Team kanban shared across your organization; hand a card to Claude, Codex or another agent and the reply lands on the card (Pro and Team). |
| Flows and pipelines between agents | Claude, Codex and Grok sessions can ask the other agents on your Mac for advice or a review, or send a short message to another session; agents share one memory per project. We did not find pipelines that pass one agent’s output to the next. | Flows pass one agent’s output to the next; a team view of open agents led by a manager; a parallel team that ends in one PR; staged task line; night shift (Pro and Team). |
| Acceptance checks | Not confirmed on their own pages | Verify extracts acceptance criteria from your request and a separate read-only verifier checks each one after the agent’s turn; automatic code review. |
| Database manager / SSH | Not confirmed on their own pages | Database manager for PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB and SQLite (Pro and Team); SSH/SFTP panel; agent SSH and database access with your rules. |
| Token savings | Not confirmed on their own pages | Context profiles, automatic /compact, bundled RTK output compression, automatic per-task model routing and a project map (code graph) for agents. |
| Team features | agmux Teams: shared dashboards for tokens, estimated cost and active time, budgets and alerts, roles, limits on agents and models, and shared team Codex and Grok accounts. Only counts leave each Mac. | Organizations, team kanban, client boards, AgentVera Runner on your own server, automatic account switching. |

**When to pick agmux:**

- You work on a Mac and want a free app whose source is on GitHub (MIT with the Commons Clause).
- You use Grok, Pi or Muse Code, or want to choose for each session between a formatted chat and the agent’s own terminal.
- You want local MLX models next to your cloud agents on Apple Silicon, and Claude, Codex and Grok sessions that ask each other for a second opinion.
- You want the agmux Remote iPhone app to answer agents and approve requests, and team usage dashboards that are free for up to three members.

**When to pick AgentVera:**

- You work on Windows or Linux as well as macOS: AgentVera runs on all three.
- You want 18 CLIs in real terminals side by side in a grid, Gemini CLI, Copilot, Amp, Aider and Qwen Code among them.
- You want flows that pass one agent’s output to the next, acceptance checks (Verify) after each turn, automatic code review and night shift.
- You want a team kanban, automatic account switching at a limit, a database manager, an SSH/SFTP panel, and the interface in one of seven languages, Turkish among them.

**Moving from agmux to AgentVera:**

1. Download AgentVera and open the projects you use in agmux.
2. Add Claude Code, Codex, Cursor Agent, opencode or Kimi Code. AgentVera starts the CLIs you already installed, so your logins and subscriptions carry over.
3. agmux task worktrees are ordinary git worktrees: open them from the Git panel, or commit and merge them first.
4. To keep decisions for every agent, turn on Brain, AgentVera’s project memory; to follow agents away from your desk, use the AgentVera mobile app or Telegram.

- **Is agmux free?** Yes. The app is free, and agents use your own accounts and plans. agmux Teams is free for up to three members; the Teams plan costs $12 per member a month or $120 a year. AgentVera has a free plan with unlimited agents; Pro and Team are paid.
- **Is agmux open source?** Its website says MIT. Since 10 October 2026 its license file adds the Commons Clause, which forbids selling it, and its README calls it source-available; earlier versions stay plain MIT. AgentVera is closed source.
- **Does agmux run on Windows or Linux?** No. agmux is a Mac app for macOS 13 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel. AgentVera runs on macOS, Windows and Linux.
- **Which languages is agmux in?** We did not find interface languages other than English. AgentVera’s interface is in seven languages: English, Turkish, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Russian.
- **Can I use agmux and AgentVera on the same repository?** Yes. Both work on plain git branches and worktrees, so you can try AgentVera without changing your agmux setup.
